The Kaplan Law Firm handles criminal and civil appeals in all federal courts and in the courts of Virginia and Washington, D.C.  In many cases we are able to handle an appeal on a fixed fee basis.

Matthew B. Kaplan has been admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Bar of United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the bars of other federal appellate courts.  Mr. Kaplan has also been appointed by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia’s highest court, as a member of that Court’s Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel.  CJA Panel members have passed a rigorous screening process and are appointed by the D.C. Court of Appeals to provide appellate representation to criminal defendants who cannot afford to pay for an attorney.

A recent example of The Kaplan Law Firm’s appellate work—a brief dealing with important Constitutional issues filed with the Virginia Court of Appeals—can be found here.
